OTTAWA – September 5, 2017 – The Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new corporate logo as part of its program to promote awareness of deposit protection.
The new CDIC logo, featuring a lock and maple leaf, symbolizes the protection we have provided to the savings of Canadians for the last 50 years.
“We protect nearly all personal deposits, but if Canadians aren’t aware, they can’t make informed decisions about the protection of their savings and they don’t benefit from the confidence that comes from knowing their deposits are safe” said President and CEO Michèle Bourque. “The new CDIC logo is a symbol of this protection.”
The new logo will support our public awareness activities and will be appear in our TV, online and print ads, and on social media. Over the next year, new materials about CDIC deposit insurance will also be displayed by our member institutions and feature the logo. These will include new brochures, signs and electronic platforms.
CDIC is a federal Crown corporation established in 1967 to protect the savings of Canadians, and we contribute to financial stability by safeguarding over $770 billion in deposits. As resolution authority, we are responsible for handling the failure of any of our members, from the smallest to the largest. Our members include banks, federally regulated credit unions as well as loan and trust companies and associations governed by the Cooperative Credit Associations Act that take deposits. We are funded by premiums paid by member institutions and do not receive public funds to operate.
